Hospitals and Clinics in Richmond
For Emergency Health services, you can drop off patients at Richmond Hospital, 7000 Westminster Hwy, 604-278-9711. You can also call an ambulance at 9-1-1 for patients in need of immediate attention and professional transport.

MSP Healthcare Coverage
If you are a permanent resident or citizen of British Columbia, you are required by law to enroll in the Medical Services Plan (MSP). You are also required to cover any dependents, such as a spouse or children.

Transportation
Richmond provides a variety of transportation options:
● Vancouver International Airport — Provides international and domestic flights. Transportation services to the airport are available
● CanadaLine Rapid Transit — This high-speed rail line connects Richmond residents to the Vancouver Airport as well as the Waterfront Centre

● HandyDART — Provides shared-ride service for people with disabilities

Public Education
Richmond is a member of the Ministry of BC Education public school system, and is designated as School District No. 38. If you have a child between the ages of 6-18, they are generally expected to attend school unless special exceptions are made.
You can register your child for school by visiting the School District No. 38 registration website. The site provides boundaries for Richmond elementary schools and boundaries for Richmond secondary schools, which corresponds to your street address. You can also use a school locator tool to quickly identify your child’s designated school.
Students can attend an independent institution if the parent wishes. Visit www.bced.gov.bc.ca/independentschools to find a school near you and learn about the registration process.
Richmond Public Library
The Richmond Public Library system operates four branches. Each location allows those with a library card to check out books, music, movies and educational materials for free. They also offer community programs, such as children’s events or free classes. Additionally, internet-accessible computer stations are provided free-of-charge.
Garbage and Recycling
Richmond provides nearly every home address with a Blue Box recycling bin and pickup service.
Garbage collection is limited to two containers, which can either be reusable cans or large bags. Additional containers can be used if a $2.00 tag is purchased. All garbage must be contained in plastic bags; no loose items!
For pickup, all garbage cans, recycling bins and lawn or yard trimmings must be placed within three feet of the road curb before 7:30 a.m. on the designated day of pickup. Visit www.richmond.ca/recycle to learn more about your pick-up schedule, requirements and to inquire about additional bins.
Large recycling loads can be brought to the Richmond Recycling Depot at 5555 Lynas Lane, and large trash items can be brought to the Vancouver Landfill in Delta at 5400 72 St.
Power/Electricity
BC Hydro provides the majority of electrical service to homes, businesses and other buildings within Richmond. Visit their website to enroll for a new power connection and to begin receiving electrical service at your address. You can also use their website to learn about typical billing rates.
Water
Water services are provided by Richmond public utilities. Payments can be made yearly based on a flat rate or quarterly based on metered service. Government Services and Elections
Most city services are conducted or overseen at Richmond City Hall, which is located at 6911 No 3 Rd. Homeowners, land owners and owners of units like Richmond condos are required to pay property taxes on their holdings.
